Bountiful, UT-Larry Deloy Ence, 78, passed away June 28, 2023 in Millcreek, Utah. Born 24 September 1944 to James Deloy and Lenna Fern Houskeeper Ence in Provo, Utah. Married Merlene Dukelow in the Manti Temple in Manti, Utah on 25 August, 1981.

Raised in Provo and attended Snow College, Brigham Young University, and graduated from USU in 1968.

He served in the United States Army and United States Air Force. He played clarinet and saxophone in the United States Air Force bands 1981 to 1994 (Band of the West, Band of the Golden West, and the United States Air Forces in Europe Band). Touring with those bands, he represented the United States military at events in Mexico, Spain, Italy, Finland among many other countries. After retiring from the military, he built a career in customer service for Southwest Airlines and Marriott Hotels & Resorts. Lived in Bountiful since 1998. He served a Church mission as a young man in 1966 -1968 in the Eastern States Mission and in 2015 with Merlene in the Spokane Washington Mission. He enjoyed MLB baseball, classical music, working in the garden, and BYU sports.

Survived by his wife, Merlene of Bountiful, Utah and his five children, Daniel of Salt Lake City, Matthew (Andrea) of Woods Cross, Jonathan of Bountiful, Thomas (Maria) of Centerville, and Amelia of St. George, and his grandchildren Pearl, Ruth, Max, Goldee, Hunter, Jonesy, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his sister Gwen (Nolan) Frederick. He instilled in his children a love of fine music and church service. He lived his life as an example of hard work and faith.

A funeral service will be held at the LDS chapel at 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, Utah at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 5, 2023. Following the service, a burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 1700 W, Bluffdale, UT 84065.
