Lowell Robison Obituary

1944 ~ 2018
Lowell James Robison, age 74, of Midway, Utah and formerly of Provo, Utah, died on June 1, 2018 in Midway. He was born on May 13, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lenard Doyle Robison and LaVon Irene Wade Robison.
Lowell spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Nevada. He graduated from Reno High School and later graduated from Brigham Young University with Bachelors degrees in accounting, economics and business management. He was a partner with a national CPA Firm for many years and was Vice President of Provo Steel and Supply for many years.
He married his sweetheart, Kathryn Wakefield on December 16, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lowell and Kathy lived in Salt Lake City for seven years, then moved to Provo in 1974, where they raised their three children and lived for 34 years. They moved to Midway 10 years ago.
Lowell loved to garden. He grew a large and productive vegetable garden and loved to share what he grew with family, friends and neighbors. He had a teasing sense of humor, loved to laugh and to hear others laugh. He made time to stop and talk with people, to give a word of cheer and a listening ear.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many leadership positions and enjoyed a lifetime of Church service. As a young man, he served a full-time mission to the Southeast Mexican Mission, and later returned with his wife Kathy to serve as a Mission President in the Mexico Leon Mission. He had a great love for the Mexican people and their culture. No matter what Lowell was called to do, he put his whole heart and soul into the service he rendered.
He will be greatly missed by all who really know him.
Lowell is survived by his wife Kathryn Wakefield Robison, of Midway; children, Jeffrey (Heather) Robison, of Phoenix, Arizona, Denise Robison (Christopher Sturdivan), of Olympia, Washington and Gregory (Ellery) Robison, of Pleasant Grove, Utah; seven grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Gramps" and whom he loved and adored, Ryder, Quinn, Levi, Leifr, Indi, Sloane and Beaux. He is also survived by his brother, Norman (Nikki) Robison, of Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In Lowells' memory, the family suggests contributions be made to the General Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A graveside service was held at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo. To send thoughts and condolences to the family, please go to www.bergmortuary.com. Funeral Directors, Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. (801)373-1841.

A wonderful Mission President and Sister Robison was the best "mission mom" you could ask for. Until we meet again.

I miss you so much, gramps. I’m so sorry I was unable to spend more time with you and didn’t cherish the time we had. I hope nothing but to become a stronger man for you and follow your example. Not a day goes by without me thinking of you

What an amazing man! I was fortunate to serve my mission under his guidance as my Mission President. I'm sad that almost 2 years later I just heard of his passing. He will be greatly missed. In Mexico, mail was not always the best. We never had a phone in our homes, let alone cell phones. So snail mail via the "pouch" was the best we had due to the poor postal service in Mexico. Living in small "pueblitos" often I would not hear from my parents for weeks and sometimes even months. My letters sent via the "pouch" often were stuck at the zone leader's house until someone went to the mission home. Needless to say my father was not very happy about this lack of communication and wrote a VERY stern letter to Pres. Robinson. During my next Zone conference Pres. Robinson and I had a PPE where he shared with me that in all of his years he didn't think he'd ever received such a "passionate" letter. He called my Dad and reassured him I was alive and well, and promised him he would make sure I knew of there concern for me. Not too long ago after my Father passed away I found that letter. Wow is all I have to say..."passionate" was an understatement...President Robinson...you were a saint for your guidance, love, kindness, patience and caring for all of "your" missionaries...and their parents. God Bless You and Keep You, Until We Meet Again!

I was privileged to know President and Sister Robison only briefly as we transferred responsibility for the Mexico Leon Mission. He was most gracious and showed a great concern for the missionaries. I did have some additional interactions when Ann and I returned to Mexico on a Temple and Family History mission. At that time they were most helpful and considerate. He will be missed, but he certainly blessed the lives of many. We all take comfort in the fact that families are forever.

This is Mark Hansen son of Wayne and Veloy Hansen. Brother Robinson had been my home teacher for a number of years while I was growing up. In 1987 while my parents were serving a mission in Chile Brother Robinson and his wife provided me great comfort and counsel one afternoon. I was at my parents home and was taking care of their yard when brother and sister Robinson walked by. They of course stopped and talked to me and asked how things were going. I reported to them that I had asked a girl to marry me and then several weeks later she got cold feet. President and Sister Robinson laughed and said that sounds just like us. They then counseled me to just hang in there and if it was right it would all work out. I've now been married to that girl for more than 31 years thanks to their counsel and advice.
Thank you.

Our sincerest condolences to you as you say your earthly good-bye to your dear companion. I know he will always be close by you even though his calling has changed for the time being. Eternal marriage and families take on a whole new meaning during this period of separation when he is not living on the earth. His interest and concern for you and your family continue as the scriptures teach.
Lowell was a great friend to us and our family as he was always sincerely interested in each of us. As our Bishop and Stake President we valued his counsel and leadership. His sense of humor, smile, and twinkle in his eyes were always appreciated. Even though you moved to Midway, we still felt connected to you both as you attended the Temple and often came to receptions and funerals of ward members.
I, Richard, remember meeting with him in the Stake Office for counsel and a blessing that was greatly appreciated. He assisted Peter to complete his missionary application and recommendation as his Stake President. As Bishop we counseled with him many times as well. His sincere interest and love for us and members of the ward and stake were always felt. We are better because Lowell was in our life.
May you always feel our love.
Love,
Richard and Sandy Tidwell

I have fond memories of Lowell as my bishop when I was a youth. He definitely had a way with youth and made us feel very loved. He showed faith in me and really cared for the one. I remember him always stopping his car to visit with each neighbor he saw. He gave so much service and I am very grateful for him! My deepest sympathies to the Robinson family.
