Morris Green Obituary

Morris Leroy Green
July 12, 1942-June 9, 2014
Monday morning I lost my very best friend. Words cannot begin to describe how broken and empty my heart feels right now. Love you forever, Morris.
Morris Leroy Green, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep at his home on June 9th, 2014.
Born July 12, 1942, Salt Lake City, Utah to Noel Wesley and Zada Christine Yorgason Green. He graduated from West High School in1960 where he was a cheerleader and the drum major.
Morris married Christine Hammill, March 16, 1968, Salt Lake City, Utah. He loved our mom so very much, she was the love of his life and his best friend. He enjoyed doing special little things for her every day, and loved spending time with her.
From 1966-1968 he served in the Utah National Guard 19th Special Forces Group, Green Beret and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Morris worked at Kennecott Copper and Camper Sales, he was partner in Ultimate Waterbeds and owner of Pillow Palace. He was an amazing upholsterer. He also worked with his brother Gloyd at Wesley Green Roofing, a company that was founded by their father in 1948.
Some would say he had a bit of a gruff exterior, but once you got to know him, he was the kindest, most giving, gentle and patient man you could ever know. He never said anything without having some meaning behind it, and he always knew the right thing to say.
He left us such an amazing example of how to treat people and how to be a genuine and good person. He was the most amazing father ever. His family meant the world to him. He had nothing but unconditional love for us, and would have done anything for any of us, and often did. His primary objective in life was to make sure that the people he cared about the most were taken care of, and were not hurting or struggling. He was so giving of his time and energy, and enjoyed doing things for others so much. This is something that brought him a lot of joy and happiness.
If something needed to be fixed, he always knew how to do it. He had an amazing skill with woodworking, working with leather, restoring anything, and sewing. He could literally do, fix or make anything. When he or any of us were faced with a problem, his first instinct was to figure out how to fix it, and he always had the solution.
He enjoyed Sunday night family dinners and started the planning and discussion early in the week in anticipation of the wonderful weekend ahead. Cooking and food were some of the things that we all shared together and truly enjoyed. Camping and fishing at Flaming Gorge with his family was another one of his greatest loves. We will all forever miss the things we planned to do together for the future, and all of the fun times we were going to have. We will keep him and his example of greatness in our hearts forever.
Survived by his wife, Christine Green; children, Kim Gibb (Rod), Kellie Bullock (Jason), Justin (Christy), Brandon, Leslie Borzea (Ryan); brother, Gloyd (Lydia); sister, Sherrel West (Terry); grandchildren, Chandler (Brittney), Macie, Hunter, Dakota, Chaylie, Dylan, Seth, Talyn, Aspen, Kanyon and Emryn. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Voneal Packer.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, June 13, 2014 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the Cannon Mortuary, Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Chris, Kim and family. I'm so sorry for your loss, Morris was a great man. I remember all the times we'd go on the fun bus to Wendover and he'd already be there in the motor home waiting for us to arrive, and ready to make us cocktails. He will be missed. I could see in the short amount of time I spent with him how deeply he loved all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I always enjoyed Morris's company in high school. He was gentle and soft spoken, very endearing qualities. The last time I saw Morris was the evening of December 17, 1968 in the LDS hospital. He was there for the birth of his first child and I was there for the birth of my first too. I am sorry that he passed and I hope the wonderful memories that you have of him will comfort you. My sincere condolence to the family. Tom Monfrooy.
