Richard Jensen Obituary

Richard Lynn Jensen
March 12, 1946 ~ July 8, 2018
Draper, UT-Richard Lynn Jensen was born in Salt Lake City, March 12, 1946 to Earl Leon and Norma Delight Jensen. On July 8, 2018, he passed away peacefully in his sleep, after battling seemingly endless health problems in order to stay with the family he adored.
Rick married his sweetheart in the Manti Temple, Sept 5, 1969 and was blessed with seven brilliant children. He grew up with adoring parents and as a young child he moved throughout the mountain west, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas with his parents. His father worked building highways, and his early exposure to heavy highway construction must have got in his blood. He went to Brigham Young University and earned a degree in civil engineering. He loved construction, and quickly became known as one of the wise-old-heads in the business at a young age. His colleagues said nobody new the construction business better than him, and he loved his work, but even more so, the people and relationships he developed through the business.
He loved his ward, stake, and the people of Draper. He served his community by overseeing Draper Days, and bringing back the tradition of horse pulling. He also loved his church and the various callings. He especially loved the calling to organize a Pioneer Trek for the youth. He felt he had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the greatest people to ever walk the earth.
He is survived by his smoking hot wife Vickie and children: Ryan (Holli) Rocco and Jax Jensen; Stacy (Andrew) Ammon, Mosiah, Roxy and Daisy Wright; Sam (Brandi) Stockton, Preston and Tyson Jensen; Joe (Lisa) Austin, Melanie and Chelsie Jensen; Billy (Jessica) Knox and Savannah Jensen; and Tessa (Stephen) Mazarin, Drayson and Remi Francis. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Emily, and grandson Aaron Jensen.
A special thank you to all those who took care of him at Dialysis, you made his experience as pleasant as possible, including going above and beyond by brightening his spirits when he was down. Additional thanks to all the doctors and nurses over the years that cared for him physically but also became his friends.
He had un-wavering faith and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed talking to everyone about the Truth that filled his heart with peace and joy.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a viewing between 9:30-10:45 AM prior to the service. There will also be a viewing the night before from 6:00-8:00 PM. Viewings and funeral will be at 13366 S. 1300 E. Draper, UT 84020.
Rick loved to donate what he could to the LDS missionary fund. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up through Mountain America at 1-800-748-4302 or in person at any branch for the Rick Jensen Memorial Account. All donations will go to LDS missionaries that are in need.

I'm so sorry to hear the news about Richard. He was always so sweet to me at dialysis. He was one of my "dialysis buddies" and even nice enough to share some of his hard candies with me sometimes. :) I will miss seeing him there when I am there for my treatments. It was very cool to see how many people would come visit him there also. I know he was deeply loved. Sending prayers to your family for comfort and peace.

So sorry Vickie for your loss. I just learned of his passing this morning.
I remember Rick as a good friend when our family lived near yours in Draper. I will always remember the good talks we had and the close ties our families enjoyed. May the good Lord bless you and your amazing kids in the future.

First off, Vickie is smokin hot!!!! I know that amazing hubby of yours thought that! We have loved watching your family rally around Rick. My favorite memory was watching him sit in his TeePee during Ammon's Eagle Court of Honor. He was a wonderful patriarch for your family. Much love to you all!! The Imans
