Robert Stout Obituary

Robert Alvah Stout peacefully passed away on August 27th at the age of 74. His life was full of adventure. As an early Utah mountaineer, he had many first ascents to his credit. He was masterful at creating something from nothing. He turned his passions for food, the outdoors and bicycles into successful businesses. He even imported the first Italian racing bikes into the US. He changed careers, built some of the first houses in the Park City boom and owned a successful residential and commercial construction business. Construction was the perfect fit because Bob could outwork anybody, and he continued to work hard right up until the end. He served a full-time mission in France, developing a lifelong love of Paris and everything French. He mentored young men as a Scoutmaster several times in his life. He was a soft-spoken man and a gentle soul. He always thought of others before himself. He accepted everybody and was very forgiving. He is survived by his wife, Jolene; her children, Shawn Olsen, SharRee (Curt) Frogley, Michele (Steven) Henrie, and Kyler Olsen; and Bob's children Scott (Ann), Allison (Jon) Baddley, and Braden. He and Jolene have 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer. His north star was his family and would say, "Family is everything." Join us for a celebration of Bob's life Thursday Sept. 3rd from 6-8 PM at the Parley's First LDS Ward, 2350 South 2100 East.

Our family will always remember how gracious and kind Bob was and his wonderful smile. He seemed to care about everyone and he loved his children and grandchildren very much. He was a hard worker and anyone that can keep at contruction until the very time of passing is a accomplishment. As a family we pray for your family and you have been in our thoughts and prayers in the last couple of weeks. Sending our condolences The Stephen Garn Family.

What wonderful memories we have of Bob when we all went to Olympus High School and the University of Utah! Double-dated, and had lots of fun! He is now with one of his hiking buddies, Steve Utley! What a reunion! We will always be grateful to have had Bob in our early life, and express our sincere sympathy to all of his family. Aren't we thankful that life is eternal, and that we will all be together again!

Bob was a man full of integrity and calm and happy in what and who he was. As a young man growing up around Bob, you just had to admire him and I did.

Had a chance run in with your dad about a year ago. We must have talked for 30+ minutes. What a genuine guy. He was much loved by the FHW young men.

My condolences to you at his passing.

Bob was one of my closest friends in my young life. A thoughtful, honest, and warm man who I often risked my life with. I trusted him completely. We did the first climb ever recorded in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

I count Bob as one of the most important influences in my life. He was such a benevolent boss and neighbor. I loved my job at Stout Cycles and saw Bob as a close friend, not just an employer. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
