Shirley Palmer Obituary

Shirley Ann Moscon Palmer 1933 ~ 2008 There was a grand reunion on September 4, 2008 when Shirley Ann Moscon Palmer passed from the loving arms of her family here into the arms of her Heavenly Father and family members on the other side of the veil. Shirley Ann Moscon was born February 1, 1933 in Tooele, Utah to Fred Edward and Rose Elizabeth Lawrence Moscon. She enjoyed a happy childhood as the youngest of three children. She attended schools in Tooele, including Tooele High School where she met Earl Harman Palmer in Seminary class. They were married December 1, 1949 and have enjoyed nearly 59 years of faithful and devoted marriage. Earl and Shirley are the proud parents of ten children, whom Shirley liked to refer to as her jewels: Erlene (Don) Anderson of Cedar City, UT; Brent (Karen) Palmer of Mercer Island, WA; Glen (Nancy) Palmer of Pleasant Grove, UT; Sandra Geiger of Orem, UT; Leslie (Cliff) Tabor of Carlsbad, CA; Julie (Randy) Inskeep of Cedar Creek, TX; Paul (Treasa) Palmer of Alpine, UT; Linda Doman of Ontario, OR; Nancy (Craig) Bromiley of Wenatchee, WA; and David (Renee) Palmer of Little Elm, TX. They have 50 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Shirley's greatest joy was in being a mother and grandmother. Shirley had a valiant testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and she found great joy in church service. She and Earl served two missions in the Micronesia Guam Mission, and one in the Albania Tirana Mission. She developed a great love for the people they worked with. She also loved the temple, and especially enjoyed serving with Earl as Temple Ordinance workers in the Seattle and St. George Temples. Shirley had a great love for people, and made friends everywhere she went. Shirley is survived by her devoted husband, Earl, her ten children, 50 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and sister, Rose Marie Woffinden of Logan, UT; also by her dear friend and our families adopted grandma, Georgia Mustonen of St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rose Moscon, her brother, Frank, and two grandchildren, Brian Geiger and Jennifer Palmer. Special thanks to Ilaisa Palepale whose love and service brought great joy to Shirley in the past eight months. Appreciation is also expressed to all who called or visited Shirley during her illness, as your visit truly blessed and lifted her. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at 1 p.m., in the Lakeview 7th Ward LDS Chapel, 155 W. 1600 S., Orem. Friends may call Sunday evening, at the Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 N. State Street, from 6-8 p.m., or Mon. at the Ward Chapel from 11:30 until time of service. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]

Dear Sandy and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones in the loss of your Mother. She was a beautiful lady. I ran into your mom and dad this summer while visiting my family in Wenatchee and enjoyed seeing and talking to the both of them. It brought back such fond memories of our high school days.

Dear Earl,
Hearing of your sweet companions passing was a bitter-sweet experience. Bitter because of the void it creates in your life and the lives of your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the countless people Shirley influenced for good in the world. Sweet because of the gospel of Jesus Christ that promises the faithful eternal rest in God's kingdom. If she doesn't make it back home the rest of us are in big trouble. Please know that you have been in our thoughts and prayers. We shall forever remember the wonderful associations we were blessed to have with you and Sister Palmer.
