Carl L. Bales passed away on April 30, 2009.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2009, at First Federated Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Brooks Funeral Care - Tonini Chapel.

Carl was born to Lena Mae and William Bales on July 21, 1931 in Des Moines, IA.

He served during the Korean Conflict with the 82nd airborne.

Carl was Vice President of Cadco Inc. He retired from Massey Ferguson as the North American Packaging and Shipping Manager, he traveled all over the world for the company.

After retiring, he worked for Charles Gabus Ford and later retired again as the Director of the Door of Faith Mission in Des Moines. He also worked for Iowa Valley Community College in Grinnell, working with the mentally challenged. He loved working with them.

Carl served as Chairman of the Board at First Federated Church where he and his wife taught Sunday school for 43 years. They also went on many missionary trips to Mexico and South Dakota.

Carl will be missed by his wife, Joanie; three sons, Carl (Becky) Bales Jr., David (Pete) Bales, and Andrew (Bonnie) Bales; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and hundreds of young people that he worked with over the years.
