Des Moines - "I am dead."

Our mom, the frugal minimalist, would have loved us to stop there.

Alas, we must give her credit due, for being Larry's faithful wife of 58 years, a capable mother of Valerie, Theresa and Brett, and a dedicated family care giver, to her final day. The blue eyed brunette was a Sufficool through and through, and didn't mince words. She lived the golden rule, as any true Methodist would. R.I.P Charlotte Belle 1940-2017

Internment will be at Colfax Hilltop Cemetery, Sunday Dec 17, sans ceremony.

In leiu of flowers, donations will be used to commemorate Charlotte through the Iowa state fair blue ribbon foundation.

Charlotte was a faithful friend. We met at Farmland insurance in 1977. Both of us moved on but we remained close friends & walking buddies. We did many Volkswslks & Race for the Cure together. I will miss our visits.

Charlotte was such a wonderful friend and neighbor. We had gotten to know each other so much in the past few years, going out to eat, laughing, going to movies, laughing, working in our yards, gardens, laughing, feeding the birds, laughing - we enjoyed each other's company and laughed a lot. Since Larry passed she was determined to stay busy and that she did: spending hours organizing and cleaning the house, getting it ready to sell. And she sold it very quickly, moving into the same complex as her mother-in-law and friend, Dorothy. Sometimes she might have seemed a bit brusque or impatient but she was trying to conceal her huge heart. She would (and often did) help anyone. When my back was hurting so much she would come and drag my garbage and recycle containers to and from the street. I'm really going to miss her-I was just starting to adjust to her not being around for me to stop on the way back to the house. If she didn't take my garbage I'd look up to see her leaning on the railing of their deck, grinning and asking if I wanted to come up. I really miss her already but so thankful she allowed me into her private world, trusted me and helped me laugh again after my husband passed. I treasured her friendship and loved that stubborn little woman.
