Gerald "Jerry" L. Lyons, Jr., 58, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at his home in Des Moines.
Jerry was born November 13, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gerald L. Lyons, Sr. and Betty H. (Lyons) Smith. He was the rock of his family and the person they would turn to for guidance or advice.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Norien; his children, Steffani L. (Wetsal) Harper, Christopher M. Lyons and Tiffani L. (Jerry) Morrill and grandchildren, Taylor, Alli, Tori, Danny, Lexi, Sayvonne, Devin, Jordayn, Jake, Baylie, Mason, Braiden and Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Julie A. (Leroy) Williams; and his mother, Betty (Richard) Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Lyons, Sr.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery will follow the funeral.

I just learned of Jerry's passing. I am so saddened by the news. Although we lost contact after high school, I have many happy memories as little league teammates (coached by his father), along with our time as classmates at East (Class of 1975). My condolences to his family for their great loss.

Words can not describe what a great neighbor-for many years-you have been. I witnessed the devotion you carried with you for your wife, children and grandchildren. I will surely miss you this summer sitting on ground pulling your weeds from flower beds. You will be so deeply missed and may you know live on without any pain and suffering. You will be greatly missed.
