First of all, let me say how sorry I was to find out that Les had passed. I just happened to think about him this evening, and decided to look him up.
I worked with Les at the P&J Kawasaki motorcycle shop on Hubbell Ave. in Des Moines for a time back in the 1970's. I worked side by side with him for several months before I discovered he only had one thumb! He never mentioned it, never needed help with some task that needed done, he just did it!
I was a few years younger than him at the time, and I remember very well thinking about how dedicated a worker he was. Working at the cycle shop, and working at John Deere, too. Not to mention his 'boat' time. He always had a great attitude, and usually a funny joke or story to tell.
Best Wishes to you,
Mick Dawson

I remember always riding on the lake with him driving and me sitting a t the back about to go tubing. I also remember me him going so fast when I was tubing and me yelling to slow down but he would just accelerate.
- I will never forget you,
Lucas

Sorry to hear about Les. I remember him from way back in the 70's water skiing at the DSM River with my mom & dad, Fred & Janet.
