Regine Holsinger Obituary

Regine Lavonne (Metcalf) Holsinger, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at her home, while surrounded by her loving family. Heaven received a great lady!

Born September 7, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Reginald Offett and Josephine Ruth (Pryor) Metcalf.

Regine was a 1953 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

She retired in 2008 as co-owner of Holsinger's Meat Market; a business she started with her husband in 1964.

She was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship as well as the Queen Esther Chapter #3 Order of the Eastern Star. She spent many years of her life as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Hagerstown, where she and all three of her children were baptized. Regine was a contributing member of Christian Motorcycles Assoc (CMA) as well as the Boy Scouts of America and was a past member of the local musicians union.

She was a remarkable pianist and organist. She has performed at various churches, schools, and community centers. Regine was very thoughtful and was always quick to send a greeting card to suit the occasion to everyone she touched in life. She was a huge contributor of the care and well being of her family as wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma.

Regine is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert Eugene Holsinger, Sr.; three children, Robert Holsinger, II and wife Trish, Lisa Eckel and husband Gordon, James Holsinger and wife Tammy, all of Hagerstown; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a close friend, Helen Pepple of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, James R. Metcalf and wife Mazie of Vista, CA.; and two sisters, Kathryn Novak and her husband Milton of Towsen, MD., and Carlyn McCray and her husband William of Baltimore, MD.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Eric Henderson officiating. Entombment will follow in Rest haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Regine's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Regine and I started out as patient and nurse. We traveled through months of smiles, jokes, and we spoke openly regarding her life. I learned how wonderful she was and how she and her family made me welcome. Regine was a beautiful spirit and a loving person. I already miss her quick wit and intelligence. I feel a loss, as I sort of felt I was a part of the family and I grew to love them as a true part of my life. Due to circumstances I was unable to continue working. But I would still visit each week. Blessings from God and healing for their broken hearts. Regine was a one of a kind and a lady. She will be missed greatly from all.

Regine was a loving and fiercely protective woman of those that she loved. She made many of us feel as though we were among her closest friends and family. I will forever be grateful for all that Regine did for me and the lessons that she and her mother taught me. Her passing will undoubtedly leave many with sadness but will also fill us with many, many fond memories. Regine, thanks for being like a Mom to me. You'll be remembered as one of the best by many. Love, Bardona
