I was so very saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Evens. He was truly a Highway Man. He served The State of Texas for many years with great Loyalty, dedication and Honor!!
It was my great honor to work with him for several years in the Tyler District. I learned many things under his tutelage.

I was saddened to hear about Bobby´s passing. I thought about him just a few weeks ago. As an early-on Civil Engineering major at UT, Gene Hirschfelt ensured I got a job at TxDOT San Angelo District and set me up working for Maintenance Engineer, Bobby Evans. Best boss ever for a 20 year old to work for! So kind, respectful, funny and most of all, patient, and didn´t treat me as a helpless female who couldn´t go out and ride the spreader box learning about seal coat operations on several different highways around San Angelo. I learned so much and it was best summer job ever! Fell more in love with highway engineering after working for Bobby and we stayed friends over the years. I told my husband, former TxDOT DE (San Antonio), he was one of the best engineers I ever worked for! You´ll be missed Bobby! My condolences to Susan and Mark and the rest of his family.
