Joy Queen
December 30, 1943 - January 19, 2023
Haltom City, Texas - Joy Morgan Queen, 88, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at North Fort Worth Baptist Church, 5801 I35W, Fort Worth 76131. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Williams & Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave., Fort Worth. Joy was born on Dec. 30, 1934 in Denton, Tx., to Raymond and Jewell Morgan. After graduating from Denton H.S. at the age of 16, she attended UNT where she met the love of her life, Darrell Queen. She graduated from UNT receiving a BA in Mathematics, May 1955 and a BS in Industrial Arts, Aug. 1955. Then three days later they married and moved to Fort Worth all in the same week. During their 60 years of loving marriage, they raised three wonderful children. Joy became the first Coordinator of Interpreters of the Deaf for FWISD, retiring after 15 years in May 1991. She was a devoted wife, mother, Granny, Christian, interpreter for the deaf and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Darrell, son, David and sister, Cleo. Survivors: Children Gary and wife Kaye, Gayle and husband Brad, Beverly and Jerri; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry; sisters, Carol and Melanie; and many more.
