Robert Ruiz Obituary
December 13, 1961 - June 3, 2024
Fort Worth, Texas - Robert Javier Ruiz passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, he was 62. Robert was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX at the time of his passing he was living in Fort Worth. He is survived by his mother, Rose Marie Ruiz, brothers Ruben Ruiz of Fort Worth, Victor Ruiz and wife Jennifer of Keller, Gilbert Davis of Georgia, brother, Anthony Maldonado of Denver, CO, Nephew James Ruiz of Keller, Niece Cecilia Ruiz of Grapevine, and Nephews Gilbert, Chavez, and Carlos Davis of Georgia.
Robert grew up in Fort Worth where he attended St Mary's school, Arlington Heights High School and the University of North Texas where received a BA in Photojournalism. Robert was an avid sports fan, he played hockey for the Fort Worth Amateur Hockey Association. In addition to sports and photography, Robert loved music. While working as a photographer, Robert worked at the Fort Worth Star Telegram, The Valley Morning Star, and the Shreveport Times.
A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick's Cathedral, 1206 Throckmorton St., Fort Worth, 76102 on Monday, June 10th at 10:00 AM.

Robert and I have a long standing history! I was his "model" for several years while he was in Shreveport! I was even in the Shreveport Times a couple of times. He was one of my dear friends for many years! I´m saddened by his passing. I thought of him often!! Prayers for his family!

Robert was a friend and mentor to the middle and high school students in my Young Journalists Mentoring program in Shreveport. I have many good memories of him helping kids learn about journalism. He was a good photographer and a caring person. Our lives were richer for knowing him.

I worked with Robert many years at the Shreveport Times. He was a talented photographer, and a kind and gentle soul. Our world is poorer for his passing, and Heaven is a richer place now that he has passed into eternity. God bless and welcome his soul home.
