Albert 'Al' A. Scarpitti, age 96, passed away on February 4, 2019. Preceded in death by parents Nicola and Leonora (Corradetti), wife Crescenza (Pavone), brothers and sisters-in-law Romeo and Lorine (Pomante), Vito and Anne (Frank), twin brother Ugo and Florence (Borghese), Orland and Mary Ellen (Schauefele), sisters and brothers-in-law Edith and Gus Amicon, Dena and Vito Del Ciello, Nellie Scarpitti. Survived by son, Michael; daughters, Maria (Barrow), Anita; grandson, Andrew Barrow; sister, Dora Scarpitti; and sister-in-law, Gloria Pavone; numerous nieces and nephews. Al was a graduate of Hilliard High School. He retired after 30 years of service with the City of Columbus Water Department. He received several awards for excellent customer service, which were recognized by the Mayor of the City of Columbus. Al was an excellent golfer. He made his first of three holes-in-one in 1941, at the Scioto Country Club. He was a caddy for members of the Scioto Country Club during his youth. As a golf instructor for several years, Al shared his passion for the game with his many students. Al was a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Church. Poor health prevented him from attending services in person, so he appreciated the home visits from Father Stan Benecki, Father Patrick Toner, Father Brett Garland and the Eucharistic ministers. In lieu of flowers, Al requests contributions be made to the St. Mary Magdalene School. Al would like to thank the staff at Monterey Rehabilitation Center, (especially Christy) and Bella Care Hospice (you were all a blessing). Also, a special thank you to Dr. DiPalma, Dr. Guinn, Dr. Evans, Dr. Kovac, Dr. Pewitt and Dr. Chidiac for the many years of excellent care they provided. Family will receive friends Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 South High Street with a prayer service in the evening. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, February 8 at 10:30 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 473 S. Roys Ave., Columbus, Ohio. Father Brett Garland, Celebrant.
