I had the pleasure of working with Dan and Thom in the late 1970's building houses and apartments with their father Walter Roth. I called Dan, "Daniel", and I called Thom "Smoke." I called them by those names because that's what their Dad, Walter, had called them.
I see that sadly both Daniel and Thom have passed away. I learned so much about construction and carpentry from the Roth Family (Walter, Daniel, and Smoke). The knowlege they shared with me so many years ago is still with me today. I attribute my engineering career to those guys.
I would like Walter to know that what Daniel, Smoke, and himself have done for me was greatly appreciated (since he was our professor).

Just read the obit a few days ago on Danny's passing. My condolences to the whole Roth family. I crossed paths with Danny on several occasions back in the days when we were working in residential construction. Always got along with Danny whatever jobsite we were on at the time. Danny was a good guy for sure. Again, sorry to hear of his passing.

I remember working with Daniel, Thom (aka as Smoke), and Walt back in 1979. We worked hard building condominiums and houses. It was one of the best times of my life.
One rainy day Daniel, Smoke, and me decided to go to go to Bob Evans Restaurant and eat breakfast since we couldn't work due to the bad weather.
Daniel said to his Dad, Walt, "Hey Pops, we are going to Bob's Place; we will be right back!"
Walt said,"Why hell, you better not go to a bar!"
Thom said to his Dad, "No, Pops..Bob's Place is Bob Evans!"
Walt said, "I'll be go to hell!"
Those are one of the greatest guys I knew!
