Homer White Obituary

White Homer White, age 82, lost his battle with Alzheimer's Disease on November 4, 2015. Homer loved his family, including his wife of 32 years, Arteka (Redman) White; as well as his seven children, Jeff (Roseann) White, Cheri (Ron) Kiger, Jim (Julie) White, Caryl (Craig) Rau, Cindy Hunt (Jim Grigsby), Kris (Tony) Miller, and Stefanie (Sean) Medlin. He adored his 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren (one more on the way), in addition to all of his nieces and nephews and was happiest when the house was full of family. He was preceded in death by his parents Chalmer and Viola White, one sister Ann Miller, three brothers Chalmer, Jr., Edward, and Harold, and grandson John L White. Homer was extremely proud of his service to his country, remaining dedicated to his military service throughout his life. He was a CPL in the 278th infantry in the US Army, continuing in the reserves for just over 6 years. He continued to display his allegiance to his fellow military brothers and sisters through his participation in the honoring of veterans, paying last respects in military honor guard ceremonies for 17 years through his membership in the Knox County Joint Veteran Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 460 out of Centerburg for 20 years. Homer was an avid storyteller and always had a good joke. He never knew a stranger and would help anyone in need. He was a jack of all trades: farmer, truck driver, mechanic, backhoe operator, carpenter, roofer, electrician, plumber, architect, wood worker, but most of all, a loyal, honest, and trustworthy man. In addition to his love for his family and the military, Homer also loved Oliver tractors, Camel cigarettes, iced tea, and an occasional nip of Bourbon Supreme on the rocks. Calling hours will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the CROUSE-KAUBER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Monday at the Hartford Cemetery with Pastor Fred Albrech officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Homer's memory to the American Legion Post 460 in Centerburg or to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org. An online memorial will be available at www.ckfraley.com
