Rama Ramanujam Obituary

Ramanujam Dr. Rama P. Ramanujam, age 59, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on August 28, 2014. Beloved husband of Lalitha; loving father of Archana and Varun. Rama was born in Sri Lanka and completed his Ph.D. in Plant Bio-Sciences in India. Throughout his career, Rama developed mechanisms to prevent cancer progression. More recently, Rama worked with the US Patent & Trademark Office adjudicating biomedical patents. In addition to his work, Rama was passionate about cooking, running, gardening, guacamole and wine. A kind and compassionate man with a generous spirit, Rama is further survived by his mother, siblings, countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He brought joy to many and will be remembered by all. A Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 3-5 p.m., and a Hindu Spiritual Service on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 W. Olentangy St. (Powell Rd./St.Rt. 750/1/4 mile east of Sawmill Pkwy.), Powell, OH 43065. Dear Lalitha, Archana and Varun,
I am shocked and saddened beyond words to learn of Rama's passing. I cannot believe that he is not with us any more. I met him about three months ago at his office at Alexandria, VA. We spent three hours together talking about various matters. He introduced me to his friends and treated me to lunch. He was so excited to talk about family and so happy to show me your photos. He was so full of energy and enthusiasm. I know him as a great colleague and a wonderful husband and father. He is one of the nicest men I have ever had a chance to interact with. I will always remember his warm-hearted and caring nature, the ever-smiling and sunny disposition and his sharp intellect and wit. He will be missed. I pray to God for his soul to rest in peace, and to give you the strength to bear this tremendous loss.
