Roger Dini

Dini Roger Dini, 84, of Pickerington and formerly of Marco Island, FL, died surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. Born on April 19, 1931 in Harvey, IL to the late Gino and Ada Dini, Roger worked as an investigator for the State of Ohio in the Bureau of Employment Services. Roger's true passion was music. He took up the accordion at age 14 and played his entire life. His band, Schnickel Fritz, has had the pleasure of performing at Schmidt's Restaurants since 1972. The band also played many Ohio festivals and was honored to play at the Epcot-Disney World German Pavillion in 1984. He was inducted into the Senior Musicians and Oktoberfest Halls of Fame. Roger never lost the thrill for entertaining and will be remembered fondly by those that knew him and those that he entertained over the years. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Arlene; children, Cathy (Michael) McClelland, Laurie (Randy) West, and Thomas (Amanda) Dini; daughter-in-law, Gertrude Dini; grandchildren, Ryan Dini, Nicole and Anthony Dini, Jonathon (Allisha) McClelland and Matthew McClelland, Levi Holdcraft, and Connor West; great-grandchildren, Ava Taylor and Carter and Jude Dini; sisters, Dolores (Leonard) Kazmer, Donna Dini, and Sandra (Lowell) DeFrance; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends; and his beloved dog, Joey. Roger was preceded in death by his son Richard Dini. Friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUENRAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Seton Parish Catholic Church, 600 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
