Edwin B. Baker

1932 - 2017

Edwin B. Baker, was called home on Monday, October 10, 2017. He was born August 9, 1932 to Homer L. Baker and Volena Cummings Baker. He was a retired from the MS Highway Patrol and from the Lee County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Cherry Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was active in Camper's on a Mission, and judged the state and local Bible drills for many years. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was active in his boy's activities and always welcomed everyone to his home. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and working in his shop, where he could fix anything.

Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Cherry Creek Cemetery with Rev. J.R. Ray officiating. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his three sons, Eddie Baker, of Pontotoc, MS, Terry Baker (Jennifer) of Oxford, MS and Larry Baker (Leslie) of Brookhaven, MS; his sister, Betty Crawford of Brandon, MS; his special caregiver, Patsy Sullivan; and six grandchildren, Austin Baker (Christine), Andy Baker (Elizabeth), Ben Baker (Mary Catherine), Wilson Baker, Livi Baker and Lilliana Baker, and a host of great-grands, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce Gray Baker, two sisters, Minnie V. Swinney and Ruth Lee, and four brothers, Franklin Baker, Gaylon Baker, Leland Baker and Grady Baker.

Pallbearers will be Wilson Baker, Andy Baker, Mickey Baker, James Lewis, Ronnie Gray and Phil Hooker.
