Anne Kevorkian-Foster Obituary
Anne Kevorkian-Foster March 7, 1910 - April 28, 2008 Resident of Fremont Anne Kevorkian Foster was born in Concord, NH, on March 7, 1910, the second of four children born to Bedros and Anna Der Kevorkian, natives of Armenia. The family soon moved to Reedley, California where they bought a 20 acre farm on which they raised oranges, plums, and grapes. Anne helped with the farm work and household chores while earning good grades in school. She had a gift for art. Her wonderful smile and caring manner gained her many friends. She became an excellent cook well known for her Armenian dishes and wonderful cinnamon rolls and Armenian pastries. Anne attended Reedley College and a Fresno Cosmetology School before moving to Alameda in the mid 1930's where she married and bore Carol in 1939. Divorced, she continued to work as a chiropractic nurse. In October 1942 Anne met Leslie F. Foster, a sailor attending naval electronics school on Treasure Island who courted her by V-Mail from around the world. On May 8, 1945 in San Diego California she wed that sailor, by then an ensign, in a beautiful marriage that lasted the rest of her life. The Foster's raised Carol, son Leslie, and daughter Susan, all of whom attended El Cerrito schools where the Foster family lived from 1950 until 2006. Anne was always busy with her flowers, cooking, sewing, and knitting. She knit sweaters and afghans including 29 of one kind and color which she gave as gifts. She embroidered a lovely bedspread and pillow case set which are treasures. Anne was predeceased by brothers Haig, and Aram Der Kevorkian and sister Artie. She is survived by her loving family, husband Les (Fenton) Foster, daughters Carol Singleton, Medford, OR and Susan Monticelli (Dennis) Fremont, CA and son Les Foster (Valorie) of Palmdale, CA. She leaves six grandchildren and four great grandchildren plus nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern California and Nevada, 1060 La Avenida, Mountain View, CA 94043, (650) 962-8111. The family greatly appreciates the loving and attentive care she received at both Lakeside Park in Oakland and at Arcadian Residential Facility in Union City, CA. The staff at El Cerrito Open House Day Care Center is to be commended as well for their loving guidance and support.
