George Riley Obituary
Formerly of Walnut Creek
George passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016, at the age of 82. As a young athlete, George earned accolades in football, basketball and track, including setting several records and being inducted into the Baldwin-Wallace College and Newark High School Halls of Fame. But his true passion was his family. His love for his wife of 64 years, his three children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren dwarfed his prowess on the field, his accomplishments as a professional accountant, and his various other commitments. A gentle man of principle, he was quick to encourage and praise, slow to criticize and always ready to love and accept family members, friends and strangers alike. His kindness and influence will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. George is preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline and his brother Don. He is survived by his wife, Lucy (Tyrer), daughter, Vickie (Babcock), son, Thomas, daughter-in-law Kelle, and brother, Jim, as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family members. He will be missed.
