I am sadder than words can say; I've lost my precious son.
Jerry was born in Olympia, WA, to his father, Dexter Edward McGee, and myself, Phyllis Gene Powell.
He grew up in Oakland and attended Sacred Heart and Oakland High School.
Jerry left Laney College very early and married. He and Jane had two beautiful daughters at a very early age, Wendy and Terry. He was a great football and basketball player, playing on many championship teams. In the end, a bad fall in basketball ended his playing. In the 70s, while attending an academy, he met Cesar Chavez and had the chance to become his bodyguard on a long march through the valley, which was quite exciting for him. A decade later he decided he wanted another child in his life. He and Bernadette had a beautiful baby named Amber, who married a man named Josh a year ago. His first two daughters, Wendy and Terry each have two children.Along with his daughters and grandchildren, Jerry is survived by his mother, Phyllis, sister, Susan Boardman, two nephews, Richard Fregulia and Jason Burke. A special grandnephew, Steven Vogel, as well as one more grandnephew, 3 grandnieces, one great-grandniece and one great-grandnephew. His brother Danny McGee passed away in 1987 in a traffic accident.
