Dear Angela and Family,
I so very sorry to learn of Mr. Putkey's passing. He was so kind to me, my Mom & Dad, and grandparents. I met your lovely family as a toddler when I visited my grandparents (Eve and Jack Fingland) who lived next door on Stewart Court. The Putkey family were treasured friends, and this was so apparent to me as I also had the great fortune to socialize "with the adults" at a holiday party or social occasions. Jim was very approachable and sweet. This was my first impression. I still remember the red teeter-totter that he had in the front of the house and he and the family always welcomed me. About three decades later, we connected again in a different era and under different circumstances. My daughter, mother and I stayed for a short period of time during an important transition in my life at my grandparent's home on Stewart Court. We all got to know Jim and the family again and he was very kind to us all. I remember when my two year-old daughter had a little crash on her bike in the Court, Jim came right out to comfort Hanna (and her worried mother!), after asking if everyone was okay, he said, "is the bike okay?" This small and humorous phrase made us all laugh and it just made things better. Over dinner at the Putkey house, we learned a lot about Jim and Angela's extraordinary life, how they met, and their interests. Jim Putkey and Family always will be an important part of our past and will live on in our memories. Thank you for being such a wonderful support to me and my family.
With warm regards,
Michele de Anda (daughter of Jim and Donna Fingland and granddaughter of Eve and Jack Fingland).
