Jerome Simon Obituary

Resident of Walnut Creek
Jerry was born in Philadelphia, PA to William & Eva Simon. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Southwestern Louisiana University, and was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army. Jerry was an accomplished baseball and softball player who was once a member of the New York Yankees minor league organization, and ended his ball playing days as an inductee in the U.S. Senior Softball Hall of Fame. Jerry loved his life in Walnut Creek and made friends wherever he went.
Jerry was the loving father of daughter, Nancy and son, Michael, and the adoring grandfather of Ashley, Scott (Lina), and Beau. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.
The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the physicians and staff of Contra Costa Oncology for all of the wonderful care he received there.
A Celebration of Life in Jerry's honor will be held on Friday, August 14th from 5-7 PM at the Gazebo in Civic Park, 1375 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek, California.
All are welcome.

You were a dear friend and a wonderful person. I will always remember the many softball tournaments that we went to together. I still have the picture of us in Durham and will treasure our friendship until I part this world so we can play that game we, so loved, together.

JERRY: I still miss those games that we went together, laughing and kidding each other. When I think about us it still brings tears to my eyes. Especially when I did not know that you had passed away' You will still be my BEST FRIEND and ball player. We will play together again on Jesus"s team.

Jerry was the best uncle a guy could ever have. He used to sit me on his knee in 1955 and let me steer his car. A great man. A great baseball player. a great brother in law to my dad, Pebbles Lazar. He loved his older sister Catherine and kept all the boys away until pebbles came home from the war to marry Kay. why you ask, cause pebbles and Jerry shared the love of baseball together.
I will never forget my uncle Jerry and I wish all the best to Michael and Nancy.

Jerry, The day we met, you were my friend for life. You inspired me to live and love. I will never forget our talks about everything under the Sun, including our favorite team, the Yankees. I will always keep the hat you gave me.
I will miss you so very much. And though you are at a better place now, I know you will always live in my heart.

What a sweet man. And a fine friend. Driving to Santa Fe with him was such an adventure! In Las Vegas, I told Trump Tower it was his birthday, and they gave us a fabulous suite (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms). My best to Mike and all the family; he was so proud of you all.

Well Jerry, we issed one another again. I could not come to yoursend off today as I had knee replacement surgery last week. Alofth I have not seen you for a couple years I'll sure miss you, Mr. Mervyn's. We sure had some good times playing ball tobether in the P-Hill league and with the Diablo's. You were trully an All-star and never played beow that level. You were a true gentleman and My Wife and I have been proud to know you. Until we meet again, take two and go to third. Dearest Jerry, you were such a joy to be around. Such a great sense of humor and a kind gentle soul. You knew everything there was to know about baseball and loved to talk about old cars. You are a class act and will be missed by so many. RIP my friend.
