Randy Fernandez Obituary

RANDY FERNANDEZ SEPTEMBER 30, 1954 - AUGUST 8, 2004 Beloved husband, father, son and brother. Born In Los Angeles in 1954, Randy was always known for his quick wit and sweet disposition. His family relocated to Union City in 1961, where he attended Searles School and Barnard Junior High School. He graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 1972. Randy worked at Filmore Foods, where he received several promotions and left the company when it was sold. Randy then joined his mother, Vera, in her long-running business, a beauty salon named Gia Vershalls, in 1990. During the next 14 years, he accumulated hundreds of loyal clients. Randy was an extremely loyal man who never forgot his friends, old or new. He was always ready to give any of his friends a free haircut when they were in a financial bind. He was well-known for the lake houses he kept, first at Clear Lake and then at Lake Camanche, where he and his friends enjoyed boating and other water sports and had many a great party. He was introduced to his wife, Hollee, in 1993 by her sister, one of Randy's clients. She was new to the beauty business, seeking advice and practice in a working salon. They soon started dating and married on September 18, 1999. When his son Logan arrived, he became a devoted father. Survived by his loving wife, Hollee, and sons, Logan and Gavin, his mother, Vera Lopez, brothers, Mike Ramirez and Arthur Roberts, sister, Rebecca Roberts Pennycuff, and his two godchildren, Alexis Pena and Kirsten Hiett. Preceded in death by his father, Richard Fernandez, and brothers, Anthony Ramirez and Andrew Ramirez. Randy will be especially missed by his best friends, Harlan Morales and Ben Henritze. Memorial Services will be held at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, 3070 East Ave., Livermore, on Saturday, August 14, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hollee Fernandez Fund, U.S. Bank, Fremont Blvd. Office, 39390 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538. What can I say, but oh my dear

God, I recently heard of this tragic news, and as my tears are falling as I write this,Randy loved life so much. He loved his family so much and was so very proud of his kids. Hollee and Vera, are you okay.......

I had plently of free hair cuts when I was younger and broke, anything but cutting your own hair, he used to say...

Please, be stong and always know that that his family is his sunshine...

Though I haven't known you and Randy long, and then thru the shop, I can not tell you how much you both came to mean to me. I know how important Randy's family was to him and how proud of all of you he was. Only time will ease your pain, but soon the beautiful memories will help you move forward. Hollee and family,

We wish there were words to share with you that would take away the hurt and the pain you must surely feel now, and will feel... But you must know that the day will come when the hurt will be replaced by a small smile, a fond memory and bit of regret that this tragic loss occurred so suddenly. But please find solace in this one thought: I believe that when we die, we go to heaven. I am absolutely convinced, that with people like Randy there, heaven is surely that much nicer a place to go to now. You were truly blessed for having such a man in your life. My thoughts are with the family during this time of grieving. May you be at peace with the knowledge that Randy loves you still, while he watches over you like the angel he is.

For all that knew Randy, I know how much you know that Randy loved life and having people he loved around him. He was contagious with his smile, and always shared with everyone how much he loved his family and how perfect his life was.

Celebrate Randy's life and let everyone you love know that you love them, just as Randy did during his lifetime. He was an exceptional individual, with a kind heart and wonderful humor. We all miss him.

Vera, Hollee, Logan and Gavin,

Words can not describe pain of your loss. Randy had been cutting my hair for 14 years but he was so much more than a hair dresser. He mentored me from broken hearts to the difficult times of being a teenager. Even though I moved to Puerto Rico last year, every 6 months when I would come to visit Randy would do my hair.

I cherish many special memories that I have of Randy.

I have always said you were my shining star, But now you truly truly are. You were so full of life, laughter and love. You thought you had to take care of evryone. You told me you planned to stay on this earth to watch over us like you have always done. Then the Lord took you away. But, I know you are my shinning star, in my heart you will always stay. Though I miss you terribly everyday, you are everywhere. I go out at night and look at the stars, I know you are there ~ I just dont know which one you are. Fernandez Family,

Please accept my sincere condolence for your loss. I was a client of Randy's for about 10 years. A friend referred me over saying simply, "You will love Randy." She was right.

Randy was warm, welcoming, funny, playful, witty, professional, generous and caring. I had my first cut and perm and never looked back.

Since his marriage to Hollee and Logan's birth, Randy beamed with pride. Never was a man more happy and proud to be a dad. News of Gavin's upcoming arrival sent him soaring even higher.

It was a joy to share each of the new sets of pictures (all the way back to the ultrasound) that Randy kept at his station and hearing all the latest stories about family life.

Randy was an incredible man who was taken from us all way, way too soon. Randy will be missed dearly and will never be forgotten. My heart and prayers go out to you all.

Randy was a awesome guy. He always asked how my family was doing every time I saw him and always had somthing nice to say. I knew him through Hollee. I used work with her at Red Robin and became her client. They were a great couple and he was such a loving dad. I will truly miss him.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of Randy. Although I only new him from the salon, (every 5 to 6 weeks when I saw Prudence for over 10 years), it was obvious that he was a kind and loving person who valued his family, friends and aquaintances. He was always nice to me and I will miss seeing him. God Bless you Hollee, your boys, Vera and family. May God give you strength and comfort now and in the days ahead.
