John Leroy Obituary

John Patrick Leroy, 80, of Elgin passed away Friday, November 17, 2006 at Tabor Hills Health Care Services in Naperville. He was born June 28, 1926 in North Adams, MA and was the son of John W. and Margaret Leroy. He had been a resident of Carpentersville for many years and a resident of Elgin for the past 10 years. He was a supervisor for Sky Chef at O'Hare Airport before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II, having service in the Army.

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus #654, a member of the Steam Engine Society of Illinois and a member of VFW Post #2298 of Dundee.

Surviving are his children, A.S. "John" Ross, Cledith (Peter) Ruden and Gordon (Carolyn) Ross; grandchildren, Adrianne (David) Simons, Perdita (Gordon) Halleck, Kevin (Olga) Ross, Peter (Annie) Ruden, Brian (Erin) Ruden, Kathleen Ross and Darin (Michelle) Ross; two sisters, Shirley Tremblay and Peggy Cuckosich; and nine great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia L. Leroy in 1995; and a grandson, Robert Ross.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Fr. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be in Pittsfield, MA. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 PM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to VITAS Hospice Services, 580 Waters Edge, Lombard, IL, 60148 or to Knights of Columbus #654, 10 Villa Ct., Elgin, IL, 60120.
