David R. Wise, 87, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Westside Garden Plaza, Indianapolis.
He was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Dallas, Texas, to Charles Johnstone Wise Jr. and Lyda Lee (Rudd) Wise. On Sept. 10, 1966, he married Rachel M. (Myers) Wise.
Surviving are a brother, Lewis "Bob" (Linda) Wise of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Karen (David) Pierce of Avon; nephews Mike (Heather) Pierce of Danville, Lee Daniel (Deanne) Rish of Gilbert, Arizona, Allen Patrick (Cindy) Rish of Peoria, Arizona, and Brian Thomas (Suzanna) Wise of Porter, Texas; niece Elizabeth Diane (Johnny) Still of Mobile, Alabama; great-nephews Nathaniel Pierce and Joshua Pierce; and great-nieces Sophia Pierce, Jessica Marie Wise, Kathryn Leann Still and Olive Rose Still.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Elizabeth Ann Wise and great-nephew Brendan Robert Wise.
David served in the Navy and Air Force and in his later years was active in the flight museum at Grissom Air Force Base. He was the co-owner of D&R Metal Detectors with his wife Rachel which was established in 1972. They enjoyed treasure hunting through Civil War battle grounds and offshore diving. Dave also authored two trilogies and a children's book.
Visitation will be one hour prior to a 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, July 23, at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, IN 46526. Pastor Lenny Krebs will officiate, and burial will follow at Violett Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial contributions can be directed toward the Wounded Warrior Project.
