Mrs. Jeanette Smith McLean, age 81, of North Wilkesboro died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2:00 at Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Thompson and the Rev. Fran Adams officiating. The body was placed in the church at 1:30. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday night.
Mrs. McLean was born in King's Park, New York on August 26, 1932, to William and Myrtle Blevins Smith. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a graduate of Clevenger College of Business Administration. Mrs. McLean worked for Central Telephone Company and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She was also a substitute teacher for the Wilkes County School System. Jean and Fred C. were married on August 26, 1955, which was also both their birthdays.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frederick Carl McLean and a brother, William (Bill) Smith.
Mrs. McLean is survived by one daughter, Karla McLean Hartzog and husband, Kent of Millers Creek; one son, Michael F. McLean and wife, Pamela of State Road; one sister, Ann Smith Glass and husband, Roy (Pete) of Wilkesboro; one grandchild, Adrianne Huffman Chillemi and husband, Dominic James of Charlotte; one great grandchild, Peter James Chillemi of Charlotte.
