Poncho was a great Uncle and friend. After my Dad (his half brother) died he came over to visit my Mom and me frequently. He was always so funny we had a great time building my Mom's dog a dog house. We never got the pitch on the roof of the dog house right and every time we saw the house we just broke in laughter because we knew it wasn't right. He taught me how to use a hammer correctly, I've never forgotten that. I moved away and I didn't keep in touch and that really saddens me but I will never forget the fun times and the love I felt being with him. I thank my heavenly Father that He gave us the gift of friendship and family may God Bless you always. Love you forever.
To the family.....I am sorry I was not able to attend the service I had pneumonia and thought it best not to travel or be close to the family especially during the pandemic. May God comfort you and may you find solace in the memories. I will be praying for the family.

Hey Poncho-I can't believe it. You were an awesome friend from Bel Air. We use to hang around at night after the football games. Always admired your calm demeanor. Always sure of yourself. Your Mom always treated us (friends) as part of the family. Last time we hung out was at a concert at the coliseum, before you left for the service. Martha was there also. Every time I pass by Yarbrough and North Loop I always think of you. We are praying for your beautiful family at this time of sorrow. Your grandkids will carry your legacy. From one Highlander to another, and from one Veteran to another-God Bless You Brother. Rest In Peace . Jaime Franco 915-355-1883

It was an honor to work with you at the Sanchez unit. I had no idea you were a fellow Marine and VIetnam veteran. May you rest in peace.

Mr. Cortinas,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served with the USMC in Vietnam and later for the citizens of Texas when you served with the TCDJ. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
