ARMANDO MARTINEZ

Armando Martinez, 44, was called by his maker on December 3, 2013. He was born to Josephina Jimenez and Manuel B. Martinez on August 7, 1969. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Anais D. Martinez, her mother Amanda G. Martinez, granddaughter Aviyah A. Overstreet, sister Arlene Martinez and brother Richard Martinez. Armando graduated from Eastwood High School in 1987. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy on March 3, 1989 and served active duty through November 18, 1996. He received an honorable discharge and transferred to the Naval Reserve. He was a Desert Storm and Persian Gulf Decorated Veteran as well as AO3 Plank Owner of the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72. Accolades received include the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Armando went on to continue his education by graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Odessa College. He enjoyed his career as a Juvenile Probation Officer in both Ector and El Paso Counties. My father was most proud of his family and the honor bestowed upon him of serving in the U.S. Navy. God's most gracious gift lives on with his granddaughter Aviyah-her smile and kisses will reach him in heaven. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home with Funeral Service at Noon. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
