Paulette Oneida Douglas

El Paso - Paulette Oneida Douglas was born on July 5, 1947 in Alton, Illinois to James Vaughn and Clara Holliday. She moved from Alton to Los Angeles, CA and was united in marriage to Melvin Douglas, December 1, 1973. She began a career in nursing that she came to love at an early age, later earned her nursing degree, worked at various hospitals and nursing agencies, and retired from Director of Nursing at LTAC Hospital here in El Paso. Throughout her life her beautiful spirit and caring personality touched many people, staff members, and those under her care. She was on loan to us from God until she was called home June 7, 2021. Paulette is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Chauncey, sisters Cynthia and Vaneeda, and oldest son Fred Covington Jr (Ronnita).

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She leaves to cherish her legacy her husband Melvin of 47 years, 8 children, Kevin Covington (Annette) of Pflugerville, TX, Ami Lawson (Shaheen) of Hinesville, GA, Tisa Douglas of Hutto, TX, Gina (Jonathan) and Melvin Jr (Jennifer) of Horizon City, TX, James Covington, Tami Jackson (Henry), Crystal Douglas of El Paso, TX, and 7 adopted children, Osvaldo Castaneda, Cyrus Arnold, Marcus McKaige (Melissa), Harold "Avon" Andersen (Jessica), Luciana, Joseph, and Christian Dowell, 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, sister friends and brother friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, with Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Graveside Service will take place at 10:30 AM, on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Please visit online registry at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.






Paulette Oneida Douglas nació el 5 de julio de 1947 en Alton, Illinois, e hija de James Vaughn y Clara Holliday. Se mudó de Alton a Los Ángeles, CA y luego se unió en matrimonio con Melvin Douglas el 1 de diciembre de 1973. También le recordarán sus siete hijos adoptados: Osvaldo Castaneda, Cyrus Arnold, Marcus McKaige (Melissa), Harold ""Avon"" Andersen (Jessica), Luciana, Joseph y Christian Dowell, sus 29 nietos, 28 bisnietos y una gran cantidad de sobrinas, sobrinos, amigas hermanas y amigos hermanos. El velorio será de 1:00 p.m. a 4:00 p.m. con el servicio fúnebre a las 2:00 p.m. el jueves 17 de junio del 2021 en Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, en el 4631 Hondo Pass. El servicio de entierro se llevará a cabo a las 10:30 a.m. el viernes 18 de junio del 2021 en el cementerio nacional de Fort Bliss.
