Dennis Kamper

Dennis Ray Kamper, known to all as "Spike," 43, St. Clair, departed this life on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at his home. Spike, son of Douglas Ray Kamper and Linda Louise Kamper, nee Dopp, was born on May 28, 1975, in Washington. On Oct. 24, 1998, he was united in marriage to Tamatha Renee Goodwin, known to all as Tammy, and two children came to bless this union.

Spike was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior, having been baptized at Virginia Mines Baptist Church, Lonedell. During his working career he was employed as a laborer for Shade Tree Service Company in Fenton, serving the company from 1994 to 2008. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2 of St. Louis. He also was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 347 of St. Clair. Spike was an outdoorsman at heart and had a variety of interests, including fishing, hunting and four-wheeling. He especially enjoyed family fish fries. What meant most to him was the time he spent with his family. His children and especially his granddaughter, Natalee, held a very special place in his heart, as he did in their hearts. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.

Spike is survived by his children, Chasity Redhage and husband Jared, Union, and Tate Kamper, St. Clair; his granddaughter, Natalee Redhage, Union; his father, Doug Kamper and wife Carol, St. Clair; his parents-in-law, Diann Morgan, St. Clair, and Harold Goodwin and wife Sandy, Hayti; his grandparents, Opal Kamper, St. Clair and Annette Woodcock, Luebbering; his brother, Buck Kamper and wife, Patti, Lonedell; his sister, Dawn Kleinheider and husband Dennis, Washington; his step-siblings, Adam Berning, St. Clair, and Selena Berning, Luebbering; his sisters-in-law, Debbie Hinson and husband Bill, St. Clair and Charity Goodwin, Cuba, Mo.; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins and many friends.

Spike was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Kamper; his mother, Linda Kamper; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Goodwin.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Dick Hinson officiating.

Interment was in Kamper Cemetery, St. Clair.

Memorials may be made to Tate Kamper or to Sons of American Legion Post 347, St. Clair.
