Dorothy Broeker Obituary

Dorothy Mae "Dot" Broeker, 78, Washington, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at StoneBridge, Hermann, with family by her side.

Dot was born Dec. 8, 1942, in Washington, the daughter of Joseph and Adele (Marquart) Broeker. She graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1960. During her working career, she worked at factories including Florsheim Shoes, Deb Shoe Factory, and retired from Tradco.

Dot enjoyed doing crafts, which she often gifted to her family and friends or gave to her church for the country store at the picnic. She was a huge Cardinals baseball fan, a season ticket holder for several years, often inviting others to attend games with her. She traveled to spring training to watch games and enjoy the experience with other Cardinals fans. She loved traveling, whether by car or on bus trips with friends. She was an avid bowler. For several years, she walked in March of Dimes Walk America, raising funds to help preterm babies and their families. More than once, she was among the top fundraisers in Franklin County.

She is survived by her brother, Bob (Pat) Broeker, Washington; nephew, Mike (Barb) Broeker, Washington; niece, Roberta Broeker, Jefferson City; and nephew, Mark (Julie) Broeker, Clarksburg, Maryland; five great-nephews and -nieces and their spouses and fiances; and seven great-great-nephews and -nieces.

Dot was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow, with the funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m.

Dot donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine to further medical research.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the St. Gertrude Catholic Church Endowment Fund, Masses or March of Dimes.

Arrangements are in care of Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
