Jerome Siess Obituary

Jerome William Siess, 80, Catawissa, departed this life Monday, July 10, 2023, in Fenton.

Jerome was born Aug. 21, 1942, in St. Clair, the son of Leo William Siess and wife Esther Mary, nee Luebbers. In 1971, he was united in marriage to Linda Wagner, and two children came to bless this union. On July 14, 2001, he was united in marriage to Helen Marie Bush.

Jerome was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of St. James Catholic Church in Catawissa. He was proud of serving his country in the U.S. Navy, entering July 21, 1960, and receiving his honorable discharge Aug. 20, 1965, having attained the rank of ADJ2. During his working career, he was a painter, mostly for Runge Painting Co., Inc., but also worked for various other companies. He was a proud member of the local painters union. He was a hardworking man who spent the majority of his time either working, raising cattle on his farm or tending the vegetable garden. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by all of them forever.

A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great- and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Jerome is survived by his son, Shawn Siess, Catawissa; his daughter, Connie Haselhorst and husband Randy, Aviston, Illinois; brothers, Daniel Siess and wife Camille, Fenton, James Siess and wife Jeanette, Union, Allen Siess and wife Debbie, Crystal City, and Urban Siess and wife Kelly, St. Clair; sisters, Eloise Newell, Denver, Colorado, and Lucy Taylor and companion Brian Sanders, Newport News, Virginia; grandchildren, Kalli Haselhorst and boyfriend Tom Smith, St. Peters, Gage Harding and wife Kenzie Verhines, Santa Cruz, California, and Brice Haselhorst and fiancee Corissa Hansen, Champaign, Illinois; great-granddaughter, Macy Smith, St. Peters; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; friends; and great-grand dogs and cats.

Connie, Shawn, and family, our condolences to you all and prayers offered for Jerry's care with our Savior. He was a good friend that I came to know through St. James Church and also, a supporter of the Knights of Columbus, thankful for the time we had with him.
