Michael J. Hinson

1959 - 2022

Michael James Hinson, 63, Villa Ridge, passed away at his home, Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.

Michael, son of James Hinson and wife Bernadine (Straatmann), was born June 12, 1959, in Washington. He was united in marriage to Dawn Paparic, Oct. 17, 1981, at St. John Gildehaus Catholic Church in Villa Ridge.

Michael was a member of Moose Lodge 1745 in Union and Operating Engineers Local 513 for over 40 years. He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and owner of Hinson Excavating.

He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, cherishing the time he spent fishing with his grandchildren in the family lake. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed fishing but had a passion for hunting. He hunted in Canada and many parts of the United States, from the Rocky Mountain states to Florida. His adventures included hunting for buffalo, black bear, elk, deer, caribou, mountain goats and alligators.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dawn Hinson; two daughters, Melissa Brennan and husband Christopher, Washington, and Nicole Hinson, Union; two sisters, Sharon Witte and husband Don, Rosebud, and Laurie Hinson, Fenton; two brothers, Dale Hinson and wife Jeannie, Union, and Jim Thomas and wife Judy, Washington; three grandchildren, Ryan Brennan and wife Hannah, Union, Mara Brennan, Washington, and Jack Fischer, St. Clair; aunts; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bernadine Hinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Moose Lodge 1745, P.O. Box 96, Union, MO 63084.
