I like Legacy.com, because every year, it reminds people of those who have passed, that we may have acknowledged on their website. Each year I get a notification about Don Langdon. I bought a new truck in April of 2019 from a saleslady in Oakland CA. In many ways, she was very much like Don Langdon, in that both she and Don, spent time with me for a long time, before I made a purchase from them! With Don, I first encountered him as a teenager, when I would ride my bicycle down to Harmon VW, to just look at the Beetles and dream of the day when I could own one. During one of these visits, Don came out and talked with me. He could tell that I was a VW person and I am sure he could tell that I could not buy a car then, I mean, I didn't even have my driver's license yet! BUT, it was just that simple visit, with him coming out and talking with this teen-aged kid, when I told myself that when the time came for me to buy a new car, I would of course, by a VW and I would buy it from Don Langdon! I DID! My first brand new car was a 1974 VW Super Beetle and I bought it from Don. I brought my Daddy with me, as I wanted that first experience, to be a Father/Son thing. We got down to the lot, and since I was already familiar with their stock, I walked into the dealer, saw Don and told him I was there and wanted the red Super Beetle that was sitting on the lot, right at the front near the street! That was it! Back then, there were no negotiations for new Beetles, because they were still in such demand that one just paid the sticker price. I'll tell ya, Don Langdon was the epitome of a great car salesperson, and decades later, in 2019, I bought my new truck from a saleslady who was very much like Don. I thank Don Langdon and will remember him for just being a good person, as well as a good car salesman!

I have fond memories of Don Langdon, as he sold me my first new car, a 1974 Super beetle! I was just reminiscing on the Facebook page devoted to raleigh nc, and that is when I was reminded of my first car buying experience, and Don Langdon. I just found out that Don had passed away last year. I am so sorry to hear this. I know we all go sometime, but Don was a good man who I think, died way too soon. I want his family to know that he is still remembered to this day, by me, for selling me that car over 40 years ago! Thanks Don!
