Charlotte Sexton Obituary

Charlotte Rose Wise Sexton, 86, of Greene Township, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loving daughters, on Sunday evening, June 28, 2015, at Elmwood Gardens. She was born in the village of Oak Ridge, Pa., on June 26, 1929, a daughter of the late Clifton Wade Wise and Twila Theresa Holben Wise.

She retired from Fryling Manufacturing over 30 years ago. She cherished the time she had with her family and friends. She was a member of Harborcreek Baptist Church. She enjoyed bus trips with her church family, sharing meals with her JFK Center friends, singing, yodeling, dancing, gardening, cutting her grass on her riding mower, sewing, and crafting. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle, which she learned to play at age 80, and always seemed to get dealt aces, earning her the nickname "Ace" while playing the game. She was also a former member of the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Timothy Edward Sexton; her daughter, Patricia Rose Sexton Hunt; her only son, Terry Gene Sexton; two grandsons, Brian Keith Hunt and Elmer "E.J." Morrison; three sisters, Ina Luella Wise Shaffer Hetrick, Dorothy Maxine Wise and Ruth Naomi Wise in infancy; and one brother, Harold "Huck" Clifton Wise.

Survivors include three daughters, Vickie (Elmer) Morrison, Pamela (Anthony) Brunner and Lisa Sexton, all of Erie; her grandchildren, Paul (Dawn) and Tina Sexton, Michael and Kimberly Morrison, Anthony (Carrie) Brunner, Amanda (Adam) Okon, Jacob, Sarah and Tim Lasher; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Maggie, Maya and Corey Morrison, Steven Joshua and Ashley Sexton, Amber and William Nielsen; one great-great-grandson, Vincent Sexton; lifelong and dear friends, Phyllis "Toot" and Bruce "Bud" Evans of Oak Ridge, Pa.; a special friend, Henry Thompson of Harborcreek; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Elmwood Gardens for their compassionate caring of our mother and also the consideration shown to the family.

Calling hours will not be observed. The family is being assisted by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504.

Private burial, in Wales Cemetery, with Rev. David Roach officiating, will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Harborcreek Baptist Church, 4719 Buffalo Rd., Erie, PA 16510.
