Hayden Decker Humphreys

On June 18, 2011 Mrs. Hayden Decker Humphreys went home to be with the Lord at the age of 99. She was born on December 7, 1911 in Buena Vista, Va., to the late Cleston and Eva Taylor Henson. Hayden moved to Erie County and resided on Davison Ave., where she and her husband, Guy Decker, raised two daughters, Marie Walker and Charlotte Gorniak, who greeted her in heaven. She was blessed with two husbands, Guy Decker and Elwood Humphreys, who will also greet her in heaven. Preceded in death by her sister, Blanche Goldsby, and husband, Hamilton Goldsby; along with her three brothers, Everett, Norman and Amos Henson. Her sister, Reba, is currently residing in Maine with her family. "Grandma Hayden" has left behind many people who love and treasure the memories made with her. Son-In-Law, Edward Gorniak; sister, Reba Henson Pixley; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and friends. "Grandma Hayden" is known for her beautiful quilts, her phenomenal sewing abilities, her southern accent, her hospitality and humor, but most of all her love for the Lord, family and friends. Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd., on Wednesday from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. till 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a service there on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Pastor David Snyder officiating.
