Marian Wickwire Obituary


February 25, 1922 - June 4, 2016

Marian Ilene Pollack Wickwire, native of Pennsylvania, longtime resident of Morris Plains, N.J. and Waleska, Ga., died at home in Fairhope, Ala., on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years, Robert L . Wickwire of Fairhope, Ala.; sister, Helen Black of Erie, Pa.; daughter, Susan Meehan Hurst (Court) of Daphne, Ala.; son, Robert Wickwire, Jr. (Beth) of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Stacie Meehan VandeWetering (Glen) of Pascagoula, Miss. and Jeremy Meehan of Easton, Md.; two step-great-grandchildren, Sierra and Jesse VandeWetering of Clermont, Fla.; two step-grandchildren, Mark Brill (Belinda) of Tacoma, Wash. and Michelle Merrill (Ervin) of Edmonds, Wash. and their three boys, Jacob, Justin and Brandon; and numerous nieces, nephews great-nieces and great-nephews.

Marian was a homemaker and skilled seamstress, and when Bob retired from Eastern Airlines, they traveled all across the country. An avid golfer, she scored a hole-in-one at 85. She also water skied into her 70s. A skillful gardener, she was proud of her beautiful flowers and outstanding vegetables. Her special joy were the many bluebirds attracted to her yard.

A private celebration of her life will be held by the family at a later date. Donations in her memory, may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospitals.
