Charles STRID Obituary

STRID, Charles H. Charles H. Strid passed away on Saturday, (January 1, 2011) at the UCONN Health Center. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marcia J. (Givanni) Strid and a loving son, Jeffrey D. Strid. Charlie was born in Torrington on May 25, 1935 to Herbert and Evelyn (Dennis) Strid. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Fuge and her husband Doug, his son, Scott C. Strid and his wife Ann, and his daughter, Jody Fox and her husband Jamie; seven cherished grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, and Allison Strid, Matthew and Meghan Fuge, and Charlie and Payton Fox; two brothers, Gerald D Strid of Villanova, PA and Dennis Strid from Holmdel, NJ. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Charlie was a graduate of Torrington High School, Suffield Academy, Syracuse University, and the Executive MBA program at the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. Charlie began his professional life with Anaconda American Brass, followed by senior executive positions at ARCO Metals, he and partners then bought several copper and brass manufacturing plants from ARCO which they later sold before retiring. He was a long time member of the Golf Club of Avon, and he and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Delray, FL. Calling hours will be on Tuesday (January 4) from 5-8 p.m. at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike (Route 44) in Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, (January 5th), 11 a.m. at The Church of St Ann on West Avon Road in Avon. Burial will be private. I only met Charlie a few times and it has been quite a while since I saw him but I liked Charlie. I know he will be missed. He, Marcia and Jeff are together again and maybe having a little get together with Uncle Peter. I will keep him in my prayers
