William Taggart Obituary

William H. (Bill) Taggart, Sr., 87, passed from this life on Thursday at his home in Copan, Oklahoma after a long struggle with dementia and Parkinson's disease.
Bill was born on the family farm east of Wann, Oklahoma on September 6, 1930 to Wesley J. and Mattie E. (Gaskill) Taggart. He graduated from Wann High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1951 and received an honorable discharge in February 1954 at the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He served in Korea from January 1952 to December 1953.
Bill married Margaret L. Key, the love of his life, on May 31, 1951 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After his discharge he was employed for Lunsford Oil Well Servicing, Salmon Oil Company which later became Ladd Petroleum Company from 1956 and retired from Ladd Petroleum in August 1987, as field superintendent.
He was a long-time member of the American Legion James H. Teel Post #105 and a member of Dewey First Christian Church.
He loved to tease and play jokes on everyone, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to go camping for months at a time, mostly at Osage Hills State Park and Wah-Sha-She State Park at Hulah Lake.
Bill enjoyed taking care of his livestock but was most happy when cutting and baling hay.
Survivors include his wife Margaret of 66 years, two sons William Taggart Jr. and LaRue and Barry Taggart and Melissa; five grandchildren Bryan Taggart and Sheryl, Jennifer Craig Taggart, J.R. Taggart and Kathleen, Tiffany Griggs and Josh and Blake Taggart and Sarah; fourteen great-grandchildren Shiloh Short, Pamela Taggart, Colton Howard, Tyler Griggs, Christopher Smith, Denzil Taggart, Dewayne Taggart, Kadie Griggs, Dawson Howard, Justin Doye, Lexi Call, Haley Taggart, Bradshaw Taggart and Liam Craig; two great-great grandchildren Zoey Deshields and Drace Roberts; one sister Daisy Hodges of Dewey; one brother Robert Taggart of Houston and two sister-in-laws Ruth Clayton of Dewey and Jean Vermillion of Tennessee.

I attended Wann School, same class as Bob, and just wanted to send my sympathy to Bill's family. Have lived in MN since 1958, so only have seen Bill on occasion. May the Lord be your strength, comfort, and provider daily. Phyllis
