Carolyn Benner Obituary

Carolyn S. Benner FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Carolyn Sue Benner, 75, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. She was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Harnett County, to Minnie Lee Ennis and Martin Euminese Ennis. Sue was a loving spouse to Jim Benner for 56 years, a loving mother to Ashlea Benner Yearwood and devoted "Grammy" to grandsons Tyler and Brett Yearwood. Her two greatest passions in life were her family and music. Later in life, she was an avid Clay Aiken "Claymate" fan and was pleased to have the opportunity to meet him in person. She attended Snyder Memorial Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where she taught in the children's programs, played in the ladies handbell choir and sang in the church choir. Sue will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Jim Benner of Fayetteville; her daughter, Ashlea Benner Yearwood and husband Rocky of Apex; the two lights of her life, grandsons Tyler and Brett Yearwood of Apex; a brother, Shelton Ennis and wife Winnie Ennis of Durham; as well as 12 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and M.E. Ennis; sisters, Helen Dixon and Edna Ennis; and brothers, Earl Ennis, Clyde Ennis, Warren Ennis and Charles Ennis. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. John Cook will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Coats City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church gathering hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music ministry program Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, 701 Westmont Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28305. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
