Jean Richardson Obituary

YORK Jean Richardson, 88, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2007 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Richardson. Born in Marietta, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Caroline H. Eater. Jean was currently working for the York City Parks and Recreation Dept. Jean had also worked for WIC of York; the York Area Office of the Aging; the gift shop at the Martin Library and McCroy's Distribution Center, all of York. She had previously managed the kitchen at the Washington House, Wrightsville. Jean supported the war effort during WWII, working as a tube tester for RCA in Lancaster. Jean was a graduate of the former Maytown High School and was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by a son, Andrew W., married to Laurie Ann Richardson of York; three grandchildren, Sarah Jean Richardson, Jason Ward Richardson and Andrew Ward Richardson, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean's Life Celebration from the Smedley Funeral Home, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald B. Warner officiating. Interment will follow in the Maytown Union Cemetery. Friends may call at Smedley's on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the National WWII Memorial, American Battle Monuments Commission, PO Box 96766, Washington, D.C., 20090-6766. www.lifecelebration.com
