Albert Goudreau Obituary

of Fitchburg, paper co. retiree, Army vet; 89

FITCHBURG -- Albert O. Goudreau, 89, of Fitchburg, MA, died in Golden Living Center, Wednesday morning, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was born on January 15, 1921 in Fitchburg, MA, the son of Oscar and Mary Jane (Schaeffer) Goudreau, and lived all of his life in Fitchburg. Albert attended school in Fitchburg and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School class of 1938.

In 1942, he enlisted in the U S. Army Infantry and served overseas in Rome, North Apennines, and PO Valley. He received the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in 1945.

He worked as a papermaker for Crocker Technical Paper Co. for 41 years, retiring several years ago.

He enjoyed spending his summers at the family cottage on Lake Monomonac and winter in Arizona. He liked playing cribbage where he had accomplished 3 perfect hands, he also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and hunting.

He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Lucille E. (Beauchemin) Goudreau; his five daughters, Jane and her husband, Patrick Kelleher of North Attleboro, MA, Pamela and her husband, Tom Vanderwalker of Gilbert Arizona, Audrey Goudreau of Fitchburg, MA, Lisa and her husband, Marc Lemay of Apache Junction, Arizona, Julie and her husband, Michael Bisceglia of Fitchburg, MA; and his son, William Goudreau of Simi Valley, California; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond Goudreau of Hudson, Florida, and Norman Goudreau in New Jersey; many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Roy and Lucille Farineau, and brothers, Arthur and Francis Goudreau.

GOUDREAU -- The funeral will be held on Friday June 18, 2010 with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 58 Walnut St., Fitchburg, MA. Inurnment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ginny's Thrift Shop, 52 Mechanic St., Leominster, MA 01453 or to Our Fathers House, 76 Mechanic St. Fitchburg, MA 01420. The Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA, is directing the arrangements.

I have known Mr. Goudreau for many years. Of all my friends fathers, he was by far the most handsome (Kurt). He always wore a smile....right up til his passing. God has a perfect angel by his side!
