Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather

Punta Gorda, Florida

Lawrence D Burns, 85, passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side at Shore Point/Bayfront Hospital, Punta Gorda, Fl. on 6/28/2022 after an illness.

Larry was born on July 14,1936, in Fitchburg, MA, son of Harold and Bertha (Rahmberg) Burns. Larry graduated from St. Bernard's High School where he excelled in football. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956. Larry lived in Fitchburg and Westminster before moving to Florida in 1988. He and Dell enjoyed many years of retirement and good times with good friends and family.

He had worked at Shorepoint-Bayfront Hospital for 13 years and was affectionately known as Mr. Larry.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Adelma (Pirani) Burns of Punta Gorda, FL. 4 children, Matthew Burns (Linda) of Winchendon, Thomas Burns (Brenda) of Leominster, Patricia Hurley (Paul) of Lunenburg and Frances Wilbur of Fitchburg. 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey Hurley (Melissa), Erin Cannon (Timothy), Sean Wilbur (Jodie), Matthew Wilbur (Megan), Hannah and Jake Burns. 7 great grandchildren, James, Caleb, Caitlin, Megan, Ella, Layla, Sydney and baby Emma due in September. He leaves a sister, Margaret Miln, brothers in law, Joseph Pirani and Douglas Pirani (Phyllis)all of Fitchburg, many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is predeased by his parents, his sister Joan Burns in 2021 and son in law Bruce Wilbur in 2022.

The family would like to thank Shorepoint /Bayfront Hospital and Tidewell Hospice for helping to make Dad's last journey as peaceful as possible. Special thanks also to Alice and Ed Beyer for your love and support.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday , July 23, 2022 at 11 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St, Leominster, MA 01453. Burial wil be at a later date at te Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetary in Winchendon , MA.
