David Guererri Obituary

GENEVA - David T. Guererri Sr., 60, of Geneva, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Big Dave will be remembered for his steady presence, generous spirit, one-of-a-kind humor, and the love he poured into every part of his life.

Born on November 19, 1964 in Geneva, David was the son of the late Frank Guererri and Barbara Schumann. David attended Geneva High School where he eventually became a Building and Groundskeeper. He also worked as a tow truck driver for his father at Frank's Garage in Geneva. After retiring from the school, he opened his own auto shop, Guererri's Service, which he operated up until he was diagnosed with cancer.

David was a dedicated life member of Serven Fire Company in the Border City Fire District where he served as a Commissioner and the Vice President up until his passing. He was also a dedicated racing fan. Starting at a young age, he got his kids into dirt racing and it had quickly become their family hobby. Every weekend each and every summer was dedicated to family and dirt racing. David also loved drag racing and he was well-known for his '79 Camaro Z28 with nitrous.

Big Dave is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, June and their three children; Davie Guererri (Jess) of Waterloo, Cj Guererri (Sarah) of Geneva, Hannah Guererri-Searle (Eric) of Sennett, and his bonus son, Cory Bogdanovitch (Kayla) of Waterloo, grandchildren Jaxxon, Lainey, and Olivia. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon Sheils of Geneva, Frank Guererri (Mary) of Geneva, Jon Guererri (Midge) of Naples, Peter Guererri (Tammy) of Waterloo, Andrew Guererri (Lupe) of Geneva, Rosemary Delgado of Geneva, sister-in-law Tena Guererri of Waterloo, numerous nieces and nephews and tons of friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Barbara, his brother Michael Guererri, and his brother-in-law Richard Sheils.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation for all of the staff at Wilmot Cancer Center in Geneva, all of the ICU nurses at Geneva General Hospital (especially Hilary, Britany, Vanessa, Maddie, Amanda, and Sarah), and his fire department family.

David was a kind soul with the biggest heart. He found a friend in everyone and "felt the love flowing" everyday.

His family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Sons of Italy in Geneva at 1:00 p.m. They want everyone to wear their favorite racing shirt as that's what David would have wanted."

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to entire Guerrie family, friends, co- workers and Dave´s race family. When I would see him he was always upbeat, smiling and joking around. He was loved by many and will be missed by many. Such a heartbreaking loss. God bless Dave and all of you , now and always.
