I met Doug in the mid-1980s. He was first a customer at Water Meister Sports where I worked, and from there became a great friend and adventure travel companion. We shared some good times in some wild and beautiful mountains over a decade or so.

He was a true Renaissance man, and I enjoyed our many discussions about so many things, places, history, and more than I will ever recall. He was one of the most well-read and knowledgeable persons I've met. And he also had a dedicated work ethic. Doug would not let the grass grow under him when something needed to be done.

I am glad to have been his friend for a time, and will always remember him fondly.

Please accept my condolences to the family on the passing of Douglas. I worked with him for over 10 years at Slater Steel, and he was instrumental in hiring me. After we both were no longer there I would occasionally run into him in town. It was always an interesting conversation. I'll always remember a meal we shared while on business in Sorel, Quebec.

Met & served with Doug @ Unity. He was intelligent, active, & quick to laugh. Always reading, studying, & seeking a greater understanding. Even though he enjoyed golf!!! He loved his family...I always was ready to hear the latest story about his beloved grandson...Or the dog...Peace to you & GodSpeed
