ROBERT J. "BOB" ASKINS

ROBERT J. "BOB" ASKINS, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Parkview Hospital - Randallia. Born Jan. 11, 1941, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was a son of the late Bernard and Nora (Velte) Askins. In 1961, Bob married Barbara Stoeckley. Bob was the Vice President and General Manager of Metallurgical Processing. He was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, was a lifetime member of the Elks, Past Chairman for Local 177 - American Society of Metals, Past President of Windswept Association, a member of Coyote Creek Golf Club, and Past Chairman of the Metal Treating Institute. Bob enjoyed golf, taking care of the yard, and loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Beth (Christopher) Shamo, Kim (Kenny) Bergle, Mark (Wendy) Askins, Thomas (Brenda) Askins, and Brian (Rachel) Askins; siblings, Mary Shepherd and Sheila Schussler; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bob was also preceded in death by brothers, Michael and Terrance. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4616 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
