John Lucier Obituary

WOLFEBORO - John Max "Jack" Lucier died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Paula (Regan) Lucier with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Jack was born in Hartford, Conn., on April 22, 1935, to Myrtle and Max Lucier. He moved from Tilton to Milton, N.H., during his senior year in high school and settled there with Paula to raise their family. Upon his retirement in 1995, Jack and Paula moved into "The Farm" in Wolfeboro, N.H., the family home.

Jack worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 40 plus years, the longest tenured state employee at that time of his retirement. He began his career as a surveyor, surveying the new Kancamagus Highway, earned an engineer's degree, became a survey party chief, and then became responsible for Town Road Aid for Rockingham and Strafford Counties.

In addition to his work, Jack was involved in Milton sports, coaching both Little League and the Nute High Varsity Basketball team. He was a volunteer fireman for many years and assisted in establishing the Milton Ambulance Service. He was a member of the Milton Town Beach Commission, an original member of the Milton Sewer Commission, an assistant Boy Scout leader, Moose Mountain Ski Patrol, and King Pine Handicapped Children's Ski Program.

Along with Paula, Jack will be remembered as his grandchildren's' biggest fan at nearly all of their sporting events, music recitals, proms, from kindergarten through college graduations. He traveled to England and Washington, D.C. to visit his boys. They would have traveled to the ends of the Earth for their kids.

Jack put his family's well-being above all else. He is survived by his daughters; Linda Luneau and her husband, Chris, Jane Gentes and her husband, Steve, Judy Peterson and her husband Chris, and his son, John Andrew and his wife, Lisa; seven grandchildren and their spouses; Phil, Matt and Ashley, Marissa and Jonathan, Taylor and Vanessa, Ethan and Karolina, Jack, and Chezney and Manny; four great grandsons; Stevey, Toey, Tucker and Deshlan; a brother and sister-in law, Robert and Linda Regan and brother-in-law Bruce Regan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Irene and Eddie Lasak.

The Lucier family would like to thank Jack's dear and devoted friends for their presence and support.

SERVICES: A memorial service for Jack will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the Milton Community Church, Steeple St. Milton, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Milton Emergency Ambulance, P.O. Box 588, Milton, N.H., 03851.

Andy, Jane, Linda and Judy, Please except my condolence for your loss of dad. I just found out of his passing and feel very hurt that I couldn't have been with the family celebrating dad's life.

I was very fortunate to have known your family growing up in Milton stopping by and sharing time with mom and dad outside the house. They saved me in so many ways throughout my life and I am indebted for life.

Over the years people come and go and when your parents moved to Wolfeboro was a loss to Milton. I was fortunate to have worked with Andy on the fire department for so many years. Knowing and living saving people became a primary job for me and anytime Andy would call I would be available.

My thoughts and prayers goes out to your family.

May God Bless your family

To Jack's Family:
I was fortunate to know Jack through our work at NHDOT for many years when he was in District 6. He was always very receptive, helpful, and knowledgeable- a true gentleman. Through our conversations, we found out we shared another "career" as ski patrollers. I can imagine Jack was as competent and capable a ski patroller as he was an engineer. I will miss seeing him at our retiree lunches.
I'm sorry I cannot be with you today. My thoughts are with you all.
In deepest sympathy.

To the Lucier Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Jack in the early 70's when I worked for the City of Dover. I always looked forward to his visits and our tours of the City Streets planning our strategy for the upcoming season.
With his guidance we developed the first paving program evaluating the conditions of the streets on a continual basis enabling us to plan and cost our work several years in advance. He was a kind, gentle and dedicated man.
My condolences.

So many wonderful memories with the entire Lucier family. Paula and Jack were my parent's (Poochie & Georgette) best friends. Jack's obituary sounded a lot like my dads except for their careers. Our families did everything together growing up. They were both Beach Commissioners and our families spent many days at Milton Town Beach. Both families got boats and we all learned to water-ski together. Our dads were both ski patrolmen and our families spent every winter weekend at Moose Mountain. They both were instrumental in starting the Volunteer Milton Ambulance. We hiked Mt. Chocorua with the Boy Scouts every year. Our families would hike deep into the woods to find the perfect Christmas trees. Jack helped my dad build the Tanner camping bus. Jack and Paula, Thanks for the memories.
